Yogi Doe, a veteran teaching assistant for Health, Attitude, and Behavior in Transforming Self (HA&BITS), is undertaking her final year as a TA. Doe was asked to complete an exit interview.
The Procrastinator: Let’s start off with your position as a TA in and of itself. There’s so much controversy over what a HA&BITS TA does and doesn’t do—do you have any comments or responses to offer?
DOE: I know lots of people say that we don’t really do much, but that’s not true. Being a HA&BITS TA has been one of the most strenuous activities in my entire undergraduate career, second only to coming up with a voting system in first year Inquiry. I remember, once when we were playing the game Squirt, one of the students mentioned concerns over the representation of water-gun violence in the game, so we replaced the violent finger firearm imagery with a gentle kiss on the cheek. I’m always amazed by the thoughtfulness of our students. It truly would be a shame if the course was removed—hopefully, HA&BITS will be here for its fourth encore.
Unfortunately, the interview was cut short by one of the HSL librarians, who cited recent updates to club usage of HSL group study rooms.
