After receiving multiple emails from students about the possibility of joining the new course, HTH SCI 6UBC (Ur Books Cool), the BHSc Office revealed their plans to create a revolutionary literature course. “BHSc students are truly a well-rounded population,” says Jartley Hafine. “I’m so shocked that students will take English out of their volition, instead of taking some other stinky science prerequisite!”
The course plans to study the usual components of English literature analysis according to the ideals of an Inquiry-based approach. As per traditional BHSc fashion, weekly reflections will be assigned, and students will be able to meditate on how each of the assigned readings contributed to their personal development, stress, and wellness levels. Facilitators have confirmed that these reflections will never be read. In the first half of the course, students will be assigned weekly readings from the likes of Shakespeare, Atul Gawande, and MCAT CARS excerpts. In the latter half, students will have the opportunity to engage in a hands- on learning experience, in which they will write and publish their own books. One BHSc student says, “I love the idea of this class — I’ll be able to get my first publication! And I’ll be first author!”
In an email correspondence about the potential barriers to the implementation of the new course, the BHSc office responded with the following: “We are worried whether we have literate techers[sic] to tech[sic] teh class. Sent from my Leap Pad Pro.”
Procrastinator journalists also reached out to the English Department Head for their opinion. “It’s really exciting to see that BHSc will soon be able to take over the Humanities department! We’re underfunded, anyways.”
