The Subtle Art of Converting Anything Into An Extracurricular: EXCLUSIVE ALUMNI INTERVIEW

BHSc 2020 graduate—Korr, Ronna—who has since embarked on the Medical School journey at Fausse Université (FU) shares some valuable insight on crafting the perfect OMSAS.

P: Really appreciate having you here today, Ronna. What’s one piece of advice you’d like to share with our first-year readers?

K: The most essential takeaway that I’d like to impart to the first-years of today is the importance of mastering the subtle art of converting anything that you do into an extracurricular.

P: That’s interest—

K: The journey to medicine is a daunting one, and there is no stronger determinant of your fate than the OMSAS itself. Aspiring medical students have dug far and wide for answers that will lead them to the realizations of their dreams, but why fret about the quality of your resume when extracurricular opportunities lie waiting right at your distal phalanges?

P: Uh… okay. Maybe give an example?

K: Indeed I will. Can you believe that in my first-year Inquiry class, there was a painful

lack of sufficient inquiring among my peers? I took it upon myself to define this condition as Hypoinquire Syndrome, collaborating with my 6 alter egos to publish a peer-reviewed research paper on the topic; it was simple as one of my identities was on The Meducator’s Editorial Board.

I subsequently founded the Inquire Movement, blessing BHSc with profound thoughts and a perpetual inability to make team decisions—all in the name of promoting introspection in the personal development of today’s youth.

P: If the Inquire Movement is so famous now, what do you even do?

K: The treatment plan for Hypoinquire Syndrome involves a personal caregiver who incessantly refutes everything you say, asking, “Why?”, “How do you know?”, and “What can we learn from this?” As the only licensed caregiver, my role involves trolling people via DMs and intruding on conversations. I am thankful that FU has recognized my contributions; it’s my belief if students follow my example on issues they’re passionate for, they’ll craft the perfect OMSAS application.

P: Well, Ms. Korr. Thanks for all the insight that you’ve had to offer.
