Responding to the incredible number of COVID cases following Welcome Week, Ctasey Ripz has announced that the Welcome Week team will revert back to their original name: The Pathogens. She explained that the name is more suitable for the team considering the circumstances: “Since the BHSc community has become known for hosting superspreader events, the name change better reflects this attitude. The faculty has even been debating whether to host the next house party in the Health Sciences Library!” The Procrastinator decided to gauge public reaction by interviewing people on the street.
Our first interviewee proclaimed that “it wasn’t very inquiry (adjective) of Ctasey to make that decision without consulting the students first. Personally, I would like our team name to be changed to Chari’s AngelsTM but clearly the faculty isn’t interested in hearing my opinion. ” Another student explained that they didn’t care if the name got changed, they only wished for “the cheer-offs to be discontinued,” especially since they were not interested in hearing about “feet.”
Though the choice is slightly controversial, Ctasey has stood by her decision, declaring that “transparency has always been an important aspect of the BHSc program. If our students want to share their illnesses amongst each other, other programs should be aware of this. To accompany this change, faculty staff will be required to wear hazmat suits to accommodate for a lack of PPE on the students’ part.”
